I'd like to ask more about your greenhouse and hope the move went well. It is the same model I am thinking about to add to a covered porch. I will enclose the sides of the existing porch, then add this attached greenhouse out to the south. There will be some work space under the old porch roof, with a door coming from the house. There is also a picture window looking into it that happens to be from my bedroom. It will be easy to allow for heat exchange between the house at times with the door and window. I've thought about this for some time but haven't gotten around to doing it. Would appreciate any input about the situation and also opinion on the Sunglo or other attached models. Would really like to see a picture of your greenhouse if possible.

I bought a diy greenhouse kit after much research on the web comparing structures and prices, as I had a certain budget but I wanted something that would add to the beauty and value of my home. Some friends put it together for me, set it up attaching it to my home in one weekend. It looks gorgeous! I opted for a redwood frame and tempered glass mainly for the looks. I am not an expert on greenhouses and this is my first real greenhouse, but I can say that the fact that it is a lean to helps with heating costs in the winter as one side is attached to my home. My home electric bill last winter was lower and unless the temperatures went really low I did not need to turn on the heater in the greenhouse to keep my plants warm. I bought the kit at mcgreenhouses.com, after spending weeks dissecting the web. They were very helpful and gave us all the information we needed to set up the structure properly, as none of us were experts. I am really happy with it, I can grow my veggies year round and I can sit in it soaking up the winter sun reading a good book as it spacious enough!

I don't think they do any shipping. Lucky me, it's not too far. I love that place. If anyone goes there, you'll see some really good native plants...they don't grow as many kinds of plants as they did back when Betty (who passed on to wildflower heaven) was in charge. But if you don't see something you want, just ask, it can't hurt. There's some plants they keep in their greenhouse also. Medina Garden Nursery (I think that's what it's called) is in nearby Medina, Texas and is worth a visit also. Native plants all over and what a beautiful garden!

Giallo Veneziano is a totally different stone than Venetian Gold (even though they do sound similar and it really can be quite confusing!) Giallo Veneziano is a peachy-gold to salmony colored stone with a random crystal pattern in roughly bloom-shaped splotches - almost like the spots on a cloudy leopard. This material could have garnet inclusions and these could vary in size from small to pretty large. The color of the garnet is most often a cola brown. This stone is almost never resined and can be very absorbent. Be sure that your fabricator use a really good sealer on this. Multiple applications are necessary. Because it will not be resined, the surface of the stone will have pronounced borders between the crystals if viewed at an oblique angle. These will be more noticeable when the stone is horizontal - like it will be on your counter tops. This material is also known for varying wildly in color, so be sure you see the slabs and personally select what you want. Samples are almost guaranteed to be different from the slabs available. This material could also be subject to a grittiness - which is more prevalent in the lower quality materials. Be sure to rub your hands across the surface of the stone to see if it feels sandy when you are looking at the slabs. A good sealer sometimes help for this, but nobody really knows the cause or a proper fix for the condition. (New)Venetian Gold is a creamy golden stone with regular, angular crystals. It has inclusions of garnet and those are often cola colored too. This material could be directional, meaning that it could have a distinct flow pattern, even though it could be very subtle. (N)VG is most often resined and has a really great surface finish. It could also vary in color, but not near as much as the Giallo Veneziano would. Because this stone is resined, it requires very little (if any) sealer. Both stones are Brazilian in origin.
