Comments (12)A good example of a blocked spark arrest causing back pressure and poor or no engine performance. 1. IMO too much oil was used in the fuel and it was bad to let it get to this point. 2. It started easy, idle w/o power until the screen was cleaned, by heating red-hot (lighter etc). 3. Other Tell Tales = no visible good exhaust, feel or sound and not to mention the mess that is seen. 4. My friend had no idea mixes varied per age and Mfg printed ratio per item (probably 16:1 in all newer etc. I'm not bold enough to go 50:1 with my (2) old late 70s saws and old Green Mach trimmer spec is 25:1. It would be ideal to use my boat's left over (summer's) 50:1 fuel. I add to it to meet Mfg's specs. Old Fashion! I'll Get Bold "in 10 years" and go 32:1 on the old saws and Green Mach (now 16:1 and 25:1). My bad experience was to have one 16:1 saw lock with 50:1. I feel the 100-degree heat played a part, which has me still using 16:1 in the old saws. Most of all, I have never seen a mess or excessive smoke like this on any of my equipment....See MoreJD 445 stalls out when throttled up
Comments (24)Bravo to all that replied with all the great pointers! After seeing all the replies and speaking with the local mechanic I finally found the REAL problem. I put everything back together on the engine except for the vacuum hose to the sensor, fired her up, removed the gas cap and took a listen. Sure enough, I heard some spraying in the tank! Took off the rear body assembly, pulled out the sending/pump unit and found the rupture on the back side of the hose...a nice 3/4" gash. Replaced it with a new piece, put her all back together(including reattaching the vacuum hose to the sensor), reconnected my mowing deck and as I write this, my wife is out mowing the yard!!! I can't thank you all enough for helping me out in diagnosing the problem!!! Saved me $282 for a problem caused by what probably amounted to a $1.00 worth of rubber...if that! Maybe all said and done an hour of total labor from the time the mower stopped running until now. Great job and what a great website. Thanks again mownie and engine_tech, Tom...See MoreJohn Deere LT133 - Throttle
Comments (3)The device you see is part of the governor system and is suppose to move back and forth as the engine slows and accelerates. It is not the cause of your problem but the results of your problem. Have you checked things like fuel flow, electrical problems, blocked air passage ways, etc. When was the last time the tactor was serviced? If you do not know how to do these things you need to read a basic book on small engine. Failing that you may have to have your local John Deere Dealer look at it. Check the label on one of the new John Deere tractors at Lowes, to find the closes JD Dealer that does repair work. The John Deere Dealer will have all of the technical knowledge and parts to service your mower....See MoreWhere are Ryobi carburetor adjustment screws?
Comments (6)High Octane gas is not a benefit within either of theae engines it burns slower and hotter , which is detrimental to engine life . However Amsoi l Sabre is one of the best Syn 2 stroke oils on the market . I use it on various units from 50:1 to 100:1 ratio, s with exceptional results . No carbon issues what so ever , actual increased plug service life and no efuel issues . I would advise the Amsoil is the contributing factor of your success rate .These off shore comparatively low compression small engines can actually be damaged ( exhaust valve and head gasket ) failures due to continued high octane fuel usage ....See Morelosrubios
