You CAN prune virtually any rose, but very many don't require it unless it's to remove damaged or diseased growth or to keep it restrained to a specific area. If your rose is a once flowering type, now is NOT the time to cut it or it very likely won't flower,. If it has already flowered, you can prune it if needed. If it's getting too large for the space, you may want to stake it and pull the growth away from the door or path and leave it alone to see what it's going to do. You may, or may not, have flowers this summer, but you won't know until you let it do its thing.

Amp's site says it's an excellent "addition" to fertilizer programs. If your soil has a lot of organic material in it (composted leaves, etc.), you may not really need to fertilize the rose. I'm sorry, I don't remember what you wrote about the soil in your original post last year. If the plant is growing well and appears healthy, you probably don't need to add anything else. The Amp doesn't appear to be anything you could damage anything with, and since you have it, give it a try. Just follow the directions on the label.

Without seeing how well things are growing, or without a soil analysis which would show what nutrients the soil contains, it's impossible to suggest whether you should add anything else, or in what quantities. Kim

Is it setting any buds? Some roses are once blooming and if you prune it before it blooms you'll prune off all of this years bloom. I'd wait and see if it's going to bloom this year and then prune it after it finishes. Then let it grow and set bloom for next year. Then do the same thing, prune after it blooms.

Seil beat me to it. Without knowing whether this rose is repeat-blooming, I wouldn't prune it until you see if it will have a spring bloom or not, and whether it repeats after the spring bloom.

Without knowing where you are, what your climate is like, and what sort of rose you're dealing with, that's likely the best advice we could give you.

My apology ,I'm in Minnesota and the snow just cleared off of the rose bed today. I needed to add Sulfur to the soil last year and it may need more, I have to check the ph. Don't know if you can see anything in this picture but it shows how spindly the growth is.

Odds are highly in favor of it being a once-bloomer since they are generally hardier. The growth isn't unusual for a lot of spreading once bloomers.

Over to Mad Gallica. she's most likely to have info you need. Us mild-climate folks will only muddy the waters.

But when it leafs out, we'd love to see images of leaves, to start. For now, Prune Nothing. You may have a family treasure.
