When you repost on the New England Gardening forum, you might want to add a bit about your goals. Are you looking for some privacy? If so year-round or only in warm weather? Do you want to block certain views? Are you just looking for delineation between your property and your neighbors? Looking to keep out pets, kids, etc? Are you interested in a mix of plants? Is is largely ornamental value you are looking for? A photo of the area in question, viewed from the house and toward or including the house is helpful as well. Joe - Nah. Not an Amelanchier. Foliage is not quite right, and Amelanchier flowers have skinner petals. Carol - that could be it. Definitely something in the Rosaceae family, I think. My only hesitation is that this garden was neglected for quite some time, is overrun with lonicera (both vines and shrubs), berberis, Euonymus alatus, etc. And these shrubs are covering an entire side of the suburban yard. It looks like they've been there for a while, and they're taking over along with the rest. Has P. villosa been around for a while? Does it show invasive tendencies here?

Leptospermum scoparium, NEW ZEALAND TEA TREE or MANUKA. Probably the cultivar 'Ruby Glow'. Joe

If the same as in the OP photo, it was correctly identified as Duranta erecta and very likely the cultivar 'Sapphire Showers'. It is subtropical in origin and will not survive a New England winter in the ground. Rated to only zone 10 but can take a light frost.
