Please give me your opinions about this idea

This will not only be my first year with raised beds, it will be my first year ever with a garden. I want it to be as much of a success as possible. I need to mention that I have a limited budget.

I am going to build 12" deep raised beds. I can get a huge load of mushroom compost very cheap. I also have aobut 100 gallons of UCG waiting to go in a compost pile and I have unlimited access to sawdust. I can also get a whole lot of leaves.

I am thinking of getting some top soil and mixing it with the mushroom compost 50-50 or so. I would go approximately 6 to 9 inches depending on what you all say. I would start each bed with a mix of leaves and coffee grounds, maybe some sawdust as well again depending on what everyone says here.

After adding 3 to 6 inches of the leaves, UCG, and whatever else I would then fill each bed with the top soil mushroom compost mix.

Questions:

1. Would thge top soil/mushroom compost work?

2. Would the leaves/UCG/and maybe sawdust be a good idea?

3. Would I still need vermiculite, or perilite, or expanded shale?

4. Please give me any and all opinions.
