front porch as cold frame?

OK. Here's the deal.

I have a post n beam front porch..small, just 6x12. What I would like to do is plastic the sides and top to close it off and make it into a temporary cold frame/greenhouse. Currently we still get night time temps down into the 20's. Being so close to the house, with a dryer vent nearby, would it stay warm enough at night to remain above freezing so I can move plants like my brassicas and daylily seedlings outside to stay overnight?

The porch is on the South side of the house, and, if necessary, I could even put out a couple grow lights to supplement the daylight, if recommended. I'd rather not have to do much supplemental heating of the porch, and might even consider leaving the front door open to help heat the porch at night, if costs could be kept low enough.

Is this a stupid idea or might it work, starting sometime in April, when night time temps rarely go below mid 20's?
