A heartfelt thanks to all my rose friends here on the forum!

I turned the big 40 yesterday and can't believe how fast all those years have gone. I think I still look young and HOT ( still have slight fever due to the pneumonia I caught going fishing for spring salmon 2 weeks ago). I was out pruning a few roses yesterday and friends stopped by with lovely fragrant flowers bouquets (Friesias, lillies and of course very nice roses, that must have cost a fortune since they even had fragrance - looked like white Romanticas).

I still have a few roses to left to prune, since I am being a little behind - but it is so bright and sunny here and the roses are really begining to leaf out. It has been the mildest winter in history - equivalent to a USDA zone 8 winter. 5. mild winter in a row and very few rose canes have a brown pith). I really feel for my forum friends reading how cold and long your winter was this year.

Funny - my friends ask me if I had any wishes for a birthday present - and I told them: large bags of 3 yo aged cow manure! Strings to tie climbers canes. Large Faux terracotta pots and organic fertilizer. I have great friends and I got my wishes! In mid June when the roses peak I am going to have a garden party - with the option to take it indoors if it rains.

I do read and post on the rose forums! Maybe not as much as I used to, especially this winter when the winter blues was worse than ever and I sat like a plant under full spectrum lighting, and did not even feel up to writing much on my blog. Loosing my religion and faith and the woman I had a long distance relationsship with has been hard. Still is. Just happy that Spring is here and look forward to the moment where I put my nose into the petals of one of the ultrafragrant roses. Life will be good then. (Hope those of you that have roses blooming enjoy them!).

Florence: 2 of my favorite roses - mine have become HUGE, because the winters have been so mild. I really look forward to them blooming this year.

Thanks Aprille - I don´t recognize the roses. But I am grateful for your pictures of The Prince. I smelled it in USA last year and I could not believe it could be that fragrant. So I planted 3 more this spring even though it does not do well over here - only becomes a few twiggy canes - but the flowers are very special.

Joanne: What a rare gem - One of these roses that are so hard to classify. It looks marvelous and I bet it is fragrant too. Never seen it in person. I see that Luanne also know my weakness for dark red HPs too. I wish I could smell those roses - never seen a W.E. Lippiat rose up close either.

Linrose: Maggie is not a rose we see over here - it is a beauty. I will surely start with light-therapy in late september this year - I hope it will not be as bad ever again. I Live just south of Aarhus. 2.5 hours drive south of Frederikshavn on the Jutland peninsula. Hope your husband will like his new job - The dish that goes along with the Akvavit (marinated raw Herring filets in herb/vinegar/sugar) takes some getting used to!

Niels, you are right (of course!) - it's Louise Odier, my favourite out of all my roses.
