Hollywood Cemetery Yellow Rose . . . and her Offspring.

Last fall, I took this photo of a yellow rose in Hollywood Cemetery. The bush was about 6' tall, upright, thorny, and the foliage was very clean -- even after the abuse it must have suffered in our drought conditions last summer. Any ideas what this is?

A fairly fresh bloom:

A new bloom on the right and a faded, older bloom on the left.

I could kick myself for not getting a photo of the whole bush.

Now for the offspring part of this post . . . this bush had hips on it, and I pocketed a couple. Here are some photos of one of the better seedlings from those hips:

Bud beginning to form. Look at those thorns!

. . . and the pay-off. This bloom is about 2" across, it has a bit of fragrance, and the foliage is gorgeous! It's hard to see in this photo, but the edges of the petals have the same pink blush as Mama does.

More seedling stories to come, once we have blooms to share.
