tiny flies?

some of you might recall, i'm a newbie, just started

my first pile two weeks ago

started with a huge black garbage bag of leaf mold

and burried a bucket of kitchen scraps in the middle

then made sure it was well covered with new brown

leaves

i'm not on the property every day yet, even tho

we plan to move the RV out there sometime next

month, so i went for a visit and added some

fresh kitchen scraps, when i dug a hole to add

my scraps, i noticed alot of tiny flies

the smell wasn't too bad, but alot of the wee

buggers!

i'm thinking its ok, as its part of the natural

process of things breaking down, but wanted to make

sure i'm not doing something wrong

i did water the pile, as the leaves were really dry

i tried not to water too much, but we haven't had

alot of rain here, so i used maby three gallons

i haven't been chopping up my kitchen waste, like

apple cores, and such, i just drop them in the bucket

also, i keep the wee bucket in the freezer till i

get to the property, so i've been adding things like

the left over cold coffee, and dredges from beer

bottles and such, hoping ot add some moisture

thoughts?
