Old Fence Posts - Safe?

Hi All -

I'm about to put a fence around our garden to keep the dogs (and kids) out.

I came across some old fence posts on our property that were leftover from a fencing project 25 years ago. They aren't in too bad shape for the new fence, the price is right, and I don't have to borrow a pickup to go get them.

I do have a concern about whether they are treated. Based on my research, I'm not concerned about any arsenic leaching into the veggies - it doesn't really happen according to what I've read. I do, however, have a 3yo and don't want her ingesting arsenic from touching the posts.

There's no tagging on the posts to indicated if they are treated. There is a greenish tint, but they've also been setup in a tee-pee under some brush/trees - so it's probably a mold/fungus.

If they are treated, how long does the arsenic leach for? Is there any surefire way to tell if they are treated?

Thanks for any wisdom you can share.
