Let us know if you think it helps. I bought some fungi type stuff for thrips from Rosemania last year. I've had it in the fridge all year. It's supposed to help. My roses are no where near leafed out yet. Probably a week or two more now that it's finally warming up.

Buford, as my DH told me one time, it only works if you apply it, not sitting in the refrigerator.

One reason I never sprayed was that I consistently have a problem with getting the directions right. I won't use the word stupid because people here are sensitive to my "beating myself up", but I did it wrong again last night. Directions said 2-1/2 - 5 tablespoons per gallon. I was using a 2-gallon sprayer but didn't double the dose, using 4 tablespoons. My consistency in getting directions wrong is what's so frustrating. I can read the directions, carefully measure and still find a way to screw up. I hope this dose does some good.

Using recipes is also fun. I call it my own personal dyslexia, but it may also be performance anxiety at this point. I hate it.

Sherry, you are not alone having "personal dyslexia"; it is my middle name, I think. I think I am measuring something correctly, I am being careful, I am trying...and then I find I didn't do it correctly. I have the same trouble with any type of electronic device. Can be tortuous...

Glad to know I'm not alone; you have my full sympathies!

Wow, Jasper! Sorry to see us both in the same boat, but I'm happy for the company. I think the next time I do measuring like this I'll have DH looking over my shoulder, checking my numbers. I think a keeper is my only hope.

florida, HAHA. I bought it last summer, after the thrips were done for the most part. I sprayed it once. Since it's 'alive' the active fungi only last a few months, a year if refrigerated. So I've had it in there until it's time to spray this year.

Sherry, it's not just you. I can figure out most measurements when cooking or baking, but the spray ones drive me insane. I have a special measuring glass for each type of spray and just mark on it where I need to fill the solution. I have different sprayers for fungicide and if I need RU or any other solution. It just makes it easier and less to think about.

Going by the lowest dosage, you were only off by one tablespoon. It's probably better to be cautious anyway so as not to burn foliage.

I hate it when they give the directions in ounces (worse yet millileters) instead of teaspoons or tablespoons. I have to go googling for an online converter.

Passwords, how many of those are in our brains? And then to have my computer tell me a passwords I came up with is "weak" ... really, too much stress, esp when I'm trying to please a computer of all things. Talk about performance anxiety!

I stood over my rice cooker a couple of weeks ago trying to remember how much rice to how much water. The number was gone. Especially distressing, when I think about how many hundreds of times I've made rice in that 20 year old rice cooker.

Your snafu seems slight to me, and besides, it's better to be cautious, esp the first time doing something SO your roses prob got exactly the right amount at 2 TB per gallon = 4 TB

My bottles all have black writing on them in the correct T/gal. in large black ink that I can see without my glasses. Don't forget to get a box of the chemical proof disposable gloves. I got some white throw away cover suits for when I really need them but the neighbors look at me in a nervous way when I wear it as if I'm cleaning up nuclear waste.

Sherry, Thank you for being my early warning. I will have to watch my roses to see if I have similar problems. You are not many miles away, so timing of problems may be similar.

I bought what looks like a large shot glass measurer.. It has tsps ounces mls all the measurements. I am careful with it because its glass, but so far it's been great.

Sherry, you are definitely NOT alone! I sometimes think you have to have a Phd in chemistry to figure out those directions on the labels. Thankfully, like you, I usually end up figuring on the low side instead of the high side and burning everything. But I've done that too...

Sherry, I have trouble with that, too! Labels can be so confusing sometimes.

As for the flashlight, why don't you go to one of the big box stores and get a miner's light - it's on a headband, and the light is on your forehead? Look Ma, no hands!! Mine has a good, strong beam that's perfect for close-up work. It came from Lowe's I think, and here's one I found at amazon so you can see what they are.

I want one of those huge lights the Department of Transportation uses when working on the roads at night. It is so hot here in the summer that night time is the best time to work in the garden. I actually asked for one for my birthday, but DH told me I was nuts. It would be almost like daylight. Think of the work you could get done!

Those lights would be great for here in the summer too! That and a shade cloth over my entire yard and I'll be set for summer.

Speaking of accessories, I asked for, and finally got, a hard hat for Christmas. That is so I can still garden when the black walnuts are dropping.
