Greenhouse Heating Nightmare

Before bedtime, my plants were cozily tucked away at 60 degrees. At the ungodly hour of 4:30 in morning, I awoke to a chilly reading of 33 degrees. I've not mustered the courage to look at the damage.

My question is regarding what happened to the electric space heaters that would have caused them to go out. Each heater is on a seperate 20amp circuit which should not overload a circuit. None of the 3 circuits I have tapped were tripped on the circuit breaker. The heaters still had power and they worked fine when I reset them. If the circuit had gone out wouldn't it have tripped the breaker? What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again? Permanent heat is not an option as I have portable collapsible greenhouses.
