Inkberry vs boxwood

I am changing my foundation planting and am looking for something to go next to my front steps. I will use one on either side and will probably prune them to a roundish shape. The site is an E exposure and gets full am and early afternoon sun in Richmond, VA. It is a fairly dry site, but I could always water (and it will get rain) Benefits as I see them are boxwood is good foliage for X-mas decorating and I generally like them. Inkberry is native and has berries for the birds and winter interest and as I understand the foliage is similar to boxwood. I do want something that is pretty maintenece free and will grow well. Also, if I go with the inkberry, do I need a male plant for berries? How nearby? Could I sneak one in the back yard and use two females in front? Any other exprience with the two? All thoughts welcome.

Thanks,

TBT
