It's a bit difficult to tell from that photo. A close-up might help. From this my best guess would be Chinese Elm AKA Lacebark Elm (Ulmus parvifolia.) It's a small tree.

Thanks so much! I'm gonna try and get a closer picture. But in any case, if it is an Elm tree... Will it grow back taller? or stay small like it is now? and do you know how fast they my grow? because this one is like everyday you look at it, it's a few inches taller seems like.

why do you want a tree what looks to be one foot from the road???

its improperly planted/sited... been horribly disfigured by whatever..

kill it ....

and buy something else.. or the same.. i dont care.. but plant it it PROPERLY.. which would be 5 to 10 feet from the road ... minimum...

Well, Ken, if you would learn to READ PROPERLY instead of chewing someones head off I didn't plant the tree in the first place I JUST MOVED INTO THIS HOME! Which would be the reason I posted on here in the first place to figure out what it is! So Thank you for being NO HELP at all :)

If you don't really want whatever it is there, just spray round up on it and wait a week, spray it again.
It doesn't really look like a tree to me.
In any case, you could just let it grow if you want.
See if you like it.
Give it a month or two, see if you like the looks of it, and if you don't there is always round up.

and i have wasted a lot of time and effort .. trying to 'save' ... what should otherwise be killed ...

its a weed tree.. probably repeatedly run over by the drunk next door .. while attempting to park near the curb..

as most plants in such circumstances.. and able to live thru that torture.. it is most likely an invasive.. or nearly so .. and the presumption is.. that it would be a waste of effort to move it .. or save it ...

and if one is living on the edge of the road.. i am going to guess that you will be finding others on the rest of the lot..

and if its anything link the siberian elm my neighbor has.. i am killing upwards of two to 300 seedlings per year ... horrible trees that shed large branches in wind and ice storms.. and drop more seeds than maples .... just a total nightmare of a tree IMHO ...

Ken didn't suggest that you planted this tree. His point is that (no matter what kind of tree) it is in a very poor location. It appears to be about a foot from the curb...is that correct?

It is certainly an elm of some sort. Someone cut it down to the ground....who knows why.....and now it is resprouting from the stump. Having a large ball of foliage so close to the road creates a possible safety hazard, blocking the view for anyone leaving a driveway or entering that street from a connecting road.

If this were my yard, I wouldn't be asking what kind of tree but how to get rid of it. Anyway...it's YOUR tree. Try to let us see some improved images and perhaps we can id it for you.

Do you have other trees in your new yard?

It's an Elm. One of the weed tree types.
Get rid of it.

It was pointed out to me years ago that the fact that the advice here is free would be the very reason that some receiving it do not value or appreciate it as much as some giving it might like.

It's just one of those things. What's really a shame is the constant parade if misinformation that marches through here.
