Name That Plant!

Shrub (?) ID, SE Louisiana

Sorry, no picture or scan.

The plant is rather woody, about 2 ft tall at present. Alternate, serrate, triangular leaves that look very much like the leaf at the link below. Petioles are longer, the lower on the plant they are. Largest leaf is maybe one and a quarter inches long; leaves are smaller at the top of the plant, around a half-inch.

No thorns.

Twigs are rather zigzag.

It flowered in September, rounded clusters of tiny white flowers in the leaf axils.

Hi, good guess. It does have that general appearance. But beautyberry's leaves are opposite, shaped differently. I have a couple of 'em in my yard.

Yes, Chris is right about Forestiera. We had those back in central Texas. My first thought was Viburnum because we have a couple other species growing in the area. And I belive buttonbush is also correct. The ones I'm used to seeing in central Texas have much smaller leaves and grow right out of the limestone so I didin't even consider it.

Is that as tall as it gets? If they get about 3 feet tall and eventually get yellow flowers it could even be Iris pseudacorus.
