Light requirements for Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'

Need help. I don't have a really good book on shrubs (the Dirr book should arrive via Amazon in a few weeks) and my search for information on preferred light requirements didn't turn up much.

I have a site near a pond that is largely shaded when the deciduous trees leaf out. Morning sun, bright shade to some afternoon sunshine in late afternoon. The soil is very moist; there is a native stand of Osmunda cinnamomea (they are 4-5' h and there are MANY of them), several highbush blueberries, and some years Lady Slippers (but not always. I'd love to add the variegated leaves and the pretty red stalks but am not sure if what I have to offer will be adequate for the plant. (I'd rather skip it than have a crummy specimen).

Would you indulge me with your insight/experience with this plant... am also confused about just how large it will get... the "bargain basement" plant I'm eyeing is ready to explode out of its 3 gallon pot and has been overwintered already... the tag was unreadable.
