Passive Heat for noobs

I've done a lot of researching the web and this forum to conclude that passive heat is a good idea. But I have some questions for any thermal experts out there.

Main Question:

-What good is concrete and/or water barrels in Seattle (overcast vs direct sun most of the year)?

My Setup:

I am planning the foundation and equip right now for this:

-Rion Sunroom, 6x14

-against the south end of the house.

-3mm Clear Acrylic walls (south of house is main window for us)

-Resin frame (not aluminum)

-Fully concrete cinder block floor, dug down 6in below surface

-One 55gal water barrel, can add more smaller

-growing Citrus (soil temp min 55F)

Considerations:

-Geothermal - since I am sitting on cinder blocks, I could run water tubes through the cavities or right under them, BUT I am not sure I can go down more than a foot or two under that for tubing to collect actual heat (pointless?).

-Insulation BEWTEEN ground and cinder block foor??

-Bubble Wrap ceiling (dont need to see out top)

-Solar pump/heater such as for pools

-Mist at night (humid air cheaper to heat)

Main Issue:

Keep heating cost down. Trying to transfer as much from earth and sun as possible, but lets face it, not much sun here!

Any thoughts on this? My advantage at the moment is, I have not started the project yet, and am free to entertain all sorts of options. :)

Thanks!
