What in the world are "Learn2Grow members?" I'm at Lowe's at least once a month and never heard of that. I don't want plants from there because I've seen spider mites, mealy bugs and scale on their plants. They can keep them.

Hi Wolflover-haven't seen you around here in a while. I remember looking at photos of your wolves, horses and gardens (especially those nice bananas!) last winter. Do you have any photos of your Greenhouse yet?
One of the nurseries here finally started selling small red and zebra bananas and ensetes so now I've got me some also. :)

I can't bring live plant material across the border so unfortunately can't make use of any discounts but thanks for posting.

I haven't talked to you in ages! I'm glad to hear you got some Ensete bananas. Aren't they the best?! I got one two years ago that has to be my favorite, E. 'Superbum'. I have to say I like it even better than 'Maurelii' and that's saying a lot. :)

We moved about a year ago and I've not taken any new pictures of my greenhouse. Everything is several years old and doesn't show my new landscaping. Wish I knew how to post pictures but I'm not too literate with computers. I love my greenhouse but it's certainly not as beautiful as yours. It works well to provide me with a tropical paradise in winter though, which was the idea. I'll be adding a pond to the inside this spring which will make it even more enjoyable. I can't wait! :)

Greenhouser, sorry you don't have better plants at your Lowes. The stores around me have nice plants. I'm always on the look out for a bargain as long as it's healthy. The link provided lets you sign up to be a Learn2Grow member if anyone wants to print the $10 coupon.

The houseplants are awful. The few I bought there had to be isolated and sprayed for bugs. The outside plants they sell are usually fine. I've gotten a lot of good bargains on annuals, perennials and shrubs there over the years.

How can I get a coupon for the $10 plant. I've been through several pages at the site and still can't find the coupon. Filling out the form just let's them spam you. I see no coupon there if you fill it out.

I find the quality of plants varies a lot at the big box stores depending on the personnel in charge. I leave money behind at most of them regularly (!) and I have seen the quality go up and down as they change employees and managers. It could easily vary from one Lowes to another.

Our local Lowes (fingers crossed) remains one of my best sources for plants, although I always watch for unwanted crawly guests. Surprisingly, our local big fancy nursery is much worse about having infestations of mealybugs and spider mites in their houseplant/tropical section than any of the box stores here. Go figure.

I'd never heard of Learn2Grow either. Thank you wolflover, I may well go treat myself!

OK, I found it. Thanks! :) We got it printed up but it's hard to believe there's no catch. $10 is a lot of money when you add up all the people who will take advantage of this deal. And we don't understand what "Discount applies to single-receipt purchase" means.

I find the same thing here but as time is passing they're all carrying plants that are infested. No one sprays them to keep the infestations down. No one cares. One guy told me they come in from the nursery already infested. He's seen cacti and succulents come in covered with scale insects. He has no choice but to have them on the cacti rack to sell. The only real nursery here that carried house plants (I worked there part time in the spring) changed hands after the owner died. The new owners went bankrupt. I bought many fine houseplants there over the years.

It is apparently gone. I told a friend about it today... she signed up and told me it is nowhere to be found. I logged out and back in and it is gone. Glad I printed it and saved it to a PDF with PDFCreator which allows you to use your 'print' function on any program, such as Internet Explorer to create a PDF document that saves the formatting of whatever you are 'printing'. That way if you are undecided about printing a hard copy and sense the article/coupon may change/disappear you can pull up the PDF and print it on your actual printer. It also saves trees if you can get by saving the important docs digitally.

i found a forum that has the coupon to download. there is another forum that discusses this, and says that the coupon is not uniquely generated. that the barcode is the same as other coupon barcodes. bencjedi, or any one else that still has the coupon on hand, i'm curious if the barcode is the same as yours (47........86870)?

zubababy, you are absolutely correct.. I was wrong.. the coupon is not unique. It looked similar to the $10 off $25 coupons Lowes has sent me in the mail. Maybe those are not unique other than the cardboard they are printed on.(?) I am glad you found a coupon. It should definitely work. :)
