Taking pictures is a healthy addiction, I think! Really lovely photos, Ingrid. Your birdbath is a charming touch. The terra cotta blends with the natural soil and enhances the sense of place. I'm sure that visiting members of the local wildlife appreciate a drink in the heat of the summer, too. Please tell the President that many bald men are very attractive, especially when they arrive with gorgeous bouquets of sumptuous pink blooms! I'm glad you didn't relinquish your camera before this leg of the tour. Much appreciated! Carol

Your garden is heavenly, Ingid! The ruffled blue irises are delightful companions for your pink roses. My daughter who is only three, but who has very definite opinions, is helping me choose colors and patterns for her (former storage) room. She has chosen pink, blue and sage green and she adores roses! Imagine that. :-) The palette reminds me of your garden. I just can't believe that everyone who walks down your path isn't some combination of awestruck and worshipful. President Carnot is looking luscious as ever! Have you grown Delbard's Comtesse de Segur? I just selected it as a free bonus on an order of Barden roses from RVR. It's probably the wrong plant for my climate and all that sort of thing, but it was so fluffy and pink and repeat blooming and fragrant that I found myself typing its name in the box. Lovely porcelain in the photos, too, Ingrid! The rich pastel patterns of birds and flowers are both elegant and natural....like your garden. Mantis, this is my first year that Marseilles Watercolor has bloomed. I got 2 small fans early last year and they've grown, a bit, but not divided yet. Bud count was pretty low, but the fans are still rather small...I didn't count but I'd be shocked if it were more than 10 per scape. You are a brave gardener (!), & there's a high probability this will work out, as our spring down here has been quite nice. And if you've got blankets to cover on the iffy nights you should be good. I'm at a an age now that I won't invest the physical energy in planting out the tenders (peppers, tomatoes and my precious annuals - coleus, sweet potato vine etc) until I feel confident overnight temperatures will be above zero. I have no qualms seeding peas, carrots, beets, swiss chard etc, since they take a couple weeks to germinate (so if it gets cold, most of the seed should be okay) and once up, they are little and close to the ground, so usually escape damage from light dips in the temperature. And if they do perish, all I've lost is a couple bucks for the packet of seed and the effort to scratch a line in the soil and plant. Easy enough for me to redo. One April husband talked me into seeding carrots so we could have an early crop, and as a rule I will do 2 if not 3 successive sowings of carrots, so we don't end up with a tonne of carrots in one swack (I do this with green beans & peas also, then we eat fresh for a longer length of time). The second sowing was done either the last week of May or first week of June, and it caught up and was ready only a week after the first! So sometimes you don't always gain that much by planting out too early, since some plants will grow slower in cooler weather. So good luck and have fun with that, I'll be checking in periodically hoping to see updates! Thanks for sharing!

Tell your husband to give the camera back Your garden has a rugged beauty that begs to be shared. Pretty color scheme that would remain just as lovely if you wanted to add back in Carding Mill, as long as you dappled its color here and there rather than adding it in just one place. Love your roses, especially SdlM, and I'm so excited about adding it to the Humpty Dumpty House gardens!

Beautiful (and warm looking!). I hope to see the beginnings of blooms within a couple of weeks. Though, winter is really not wanting to leave. :/

They are really pretty, beautiful roses and the other flowers are lovely, such a good accent. Of course I love your SdLM and the Reine des Violettes and Mrs. B.R. Cant are out of this world. They are all gorgeous. I don't think anyone would tire of seeing your roses, that's why we are on here. Please let us enjoy them as long as possible!

What to do when you're all being so complimentary and nice? Well, it's actually turned rather cool (50 degrees in the evening) and the spring flush might be delayed for a few weeks if it keeps on like this. This works well since you'll all have a nice two-week rest at least and hopefully many of the buds will have become flowers. To be continued......

Oh please DO continue! What do you think sustains rose lovers like me who still have over 2 ft. of snow on the ground? (And what is it doing this morning? Yes, 2" of predicted snow is making its way down from the sky.)

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share these. So lovely! They give the rest of us inspiration and hope that spring might really be right around the corner. I hope that you will never feel that you're taking and sharing too many pictures of your garden. Can there really be such a thing as too many pictures of pretty roses on the antique rose forum?
