I suggest that you figure out what you want to plant and then make the beds confrm to the layout of the planting rather than the other way around. You can cut in your beds before planting, but plan those beds ased on the plant layout (plan it first, in other words). I have no problem with your desire to use curved beds that allow your ride on mower to cut without trimming.

Pulsatilla vulgaris (Anemone pulsatilla) is a very adaptable species. It can grow in practically pure sand or typical garden soil, as long as there is excellent drainage. Campanula rotundifolia seems to like more fertile, and open ground, at least way up here in Minnesota. It grows here abundantly in the cracks of basalt outcrops, where typical compost materials collect. But it too must be very adaptable, as its distribution is circumpolar. Draba rigida I have only grown in troughs, in rocky alpine soil - excellent drainage and low fertility. But I can't say what it would adapt to. More troublesome is the heat you have. Alpines don't like it. You will have to grow them in part shade.

glad to hear about your update Trap7. so you're growing your plants outdoors in a sunny location huh? great! that's the way they should be!(except the nepenthes) are you going to post new pics? i surely hope so. the way you describe their progress, makes some of us want to see the plants' new growth. new pics of them perhaps? i started a smaller terrarium(just because i had spare plants) i planted them in a 1 gallon fish bowl i just had it sitting on top of my "drawing table" there for a while, and i had spare plants in my sunny windowsill.. and though.. hmm.. maybe i should give it another try.. then.. i planted a venus' flytrap(despite of the failing attempt on growing one in a bigger terrrarium) i planted one in the fish bowl along with a drosera adelae.. drosera capensis, 2 pinguicula sethos, and 1 pinguicula moranensis. i will see what will happen within days, i am giving them artificial lighting 16 hours per day. the 14 watt lightbulb is 4 inches above plants. so they get real bright light. i will post the pic of the terrarium in 2 weeks of improvement. Trap7, yous hould take pics of your plant's improvement. your description of progress was really intriguing. :P i'm 20, there's no shame for guys to love plants. if you knew me in real person you would be like "dude, you're freaking odd" talk to you later , take care.
