I planted a Mockorange in the Spring of 2006. It never bloomed, but I figured it would the next year. In the fall of 2006, I pruned it. Wrong move; I found out after the fact that you prune flowering shrubs after they flower. Because of that, I knew I wouldn't get any blooms in 2007. So here I am all geared up for a spectatular show this year, yet I keep seeing posts about other people's Mockoranges not blooming. Someone said to root prune and gave great instructions, but didn't say when. I asked and was told to do it when it suppose to be in bloom. Well, here it is June 12th and I'm planning on instructing my husband on how to do it this weekend. Every day during my lunch (I work from home) I walk through the gardens and see what is going on and take pictures and lo and behold, there are tiny buds on my Mockorange!!! I am so excited!!! I can't wait to see what they look like and smell like. I've only seen one in bloom on the internet, so it is super special!!!
