2010 Comice, Bosc, and Olympic pear report
13 years ago
After a 6 year wait the Comice and Bosc finally set this year. Difference was almost all Bosc bloom set whereas Comice set very little, 1-5% of bloom. Olympic has been fruiting 3-4 years. These are all multigrafts on the same tree planted 2004.
I picked all the fruit in late September. Next year I'll probably pick about Sept 20. The Bosc and Comice were stored 4-6 weeks in the frig and ripened 5-7 days before eating.
Olympic was very firm, almost hard, and nicely sweet, 16-18 brix. Comice was melting when eaten and about 18-19 brix. Bosc was firm and sweet but no brix to report. All were good eating and worth all the effort.
Your reports welcome.
