Angel Red Pomegranate in New Hampshire

I've just received an Angel Red Pomegranate as a christmas gift. It was shipped dormant, but I know that it is meant for slightly warmer climates than my zone 5a. My hope is to grow it potted as a patio plant and bring it in for the winter. My question is, since it has been shipped dormant, is it best for me to keep it cool until the spring, or should I pot it up and put it in a window until the weather warms up and then put it outside? I am having a hard time finding much information on this specific plant. Any advice from anyone who has had success growing tropical trees under these conditions would be greatly appreciated.
