Whew, right on target again, Chris! Thanks. "Tree of Heaven" is the common name, per Wikipedia. Strangely, I've never heard of either the common name or scientific name, despite the tree being so common. I thought this Wikipedia description was funny: "The odour tends to resemble the smell of strong cat urine or the spray of a male cat. J0nd03- that ft.mcnair is a beautiful tree. Ill have to see what the specs are on it as far as tolerances/preferences. Tornado- no offense taken at all, I'm quite long winded myself (I am a car salesman!) and I love taking politics but unfortunately from what I have learned (perhaps its the area we live in?) most discussions about politics/govt matters turn into a pissing contest/yelling match because when someone has a differeing view than I yet cannot support their claims/reasons for their beliefs they get defensive and resort to un civilized behavior. I think it's hilarious but sure you have experenced it as well! ;) I really appreciate the info your giving me. From what I have read/picked up from folks (a good friend of mine is a horticulture major/landscape business owner) these beech trees will maintain their vibrant foliage as long as they are kept hydrated. I'm site the tree in your pics gets pruned/pest control done professionally and regularly but I'm not sure about the watering part too much?

skrip, Do you have any problem with seedlings with the Chinese Elm "Drake"? It looks like a beautiful tree. My husband is partial to weeping type trees...but since I am the one that is going to buy and plant it and take care of it..guess I get the final say! As for Macadamia...We sometimes get frost, but rarely. I am inland from LA, but just South of me is Fallbrook, where they grow alot of Advocados. I was reading the the Macadamia has sim. requirements...Is anyone growing a Macadmaia Inland So Cal? Seems they like reg. water... but sounds like it is a pos. Sure would like to have one...am I getting greedy? I also looked up the Persian Mulberry..sure would like one of those too, but then my husband would probably demand pie! It is a bit smaller tree than I want for that area, but I am goiung to find a place for one in my yard, if I can determine that it will be OK with our HOT, DRY summers. Still undecided..I think I need a bigger property! I REALLY am trying to focus (HONESTLY!)... but so many trees...so many choices! What to do???
