Gee. That looks like 'Tamalpais Homestead Tea.' If that's what it is, you are one lucky rosarian.

The color is really variable, and the blooms are much deeper than THT. The foliage of the plant is much more typical Tea-foliage, which THT has foliage more characteristic of Hybrid Teas, wide, rounded.

Well, my bet is that it's another VERY desireable rose - Lady Roberts. The person doing the propagating wasn't doing either of the other two - Tamalpais Homestead Tea and Arcadia Louisiana - but she had taken quite a few cuttings from the Lady Roberts in her yard.

There's an easy way to tell. There is a rusty-colored blotch at the base of the petals. If you have the Australian Tea Roses book, there is a great description under Anna Olivier/Lady Roberts.

I always feel guilty when people get a misidentified rose at the cemetery sale, but this is such a lovely rose that I think you lucked out. I'm posting a link to something that Carolyn Parker wrote about this rose.

We have two of them on the Silent Auction this year, and no more. I want it so badly for my home garden that I'm thinking of bidding myself.

I have that same Not Phillips and Rix. I hope it is Lady Roberts. It's doing well here.

I might have that Anna Olivier/Lady Roberts rose, collected from that old house in San Rafael that has so many wonderful roses. Mine never has the centers shown in hodgepodge's picture and has far fewer petals. Also, the foliage doesn't seem the same...though we don't really have a closeup of h's rose.

The foliage is very smooth and thick, and has a thick "cuticle."

Could it be Gloire de Dijon???

(I have grown no tea roses, so please forgive if that's a really stupid suggestion! :) )

It wouldn't be Gloire de Dijon because no one propagated that one (we don't have it in the cemetery or our own gardens), but no it was not a stupid suggestion.

I thought it could possibly be Jacques Porcher, but I think the bloom is too full.
Deron, could you get some more photos this year and include the foilage? It would be helpful to know if it the foilage is tea vs hybrid-tea like.

I sort of incline to Arcadia Louisiana Tea -- but I don't know if that was propagated last year.

Our Anna Olivier/Schmidt's Buff Giant is NOT the same rose as Lady Roberts. Janelle and I have compared, and there are more petals and more color, consistently, in LR.

We didn't propagate Arcadia Lousiana Tea last year. And I don't think it's Jacques Porcher, either.

Thanks so much for the input everyone. The rose is beautiful, so we are in no way disappointed just trying for an ID.

Janelle, I will definitely get some more pictures up when its blooming. I remember my mom said it had few (if any) thorns. Lady Roberts is amazing BTW.
