theyre easy to grow from seed. One thing you need to keep in mind: Seeds from an apple, wont grow that type of fruit. A Spartan apple seed , wont give you a spartan apple tree. You really wont know what will grow. For some people, that is the best part though! Its simple. Wash the seeds using a sive, and running water. I would steralize them, using a 1:10 mixture of bleach:water, soaking the seeds in them for a few minutes, and then rinsing them of im water a few times. You pot them on a slightly moist paper towel, fold it over, and put that in a baggie. You then put that in the fridge for 6 weeks. If the apples have been in the fridge for a few weeks already, you can probably miss this step. Good luck!

Justin, Try it. You might just get a great new apple. I have planted apple, pear, and peach seeds. Peach seeds or pits, I did plant years ago and got real nice peaches from the trees. Pears and apples I planted them 2 yrs ago, and the trees are still too young to bear fruit--I hope someday they will bear some. Of course, I planted the seeds the lazy--or easy--way. Sometime in the winter (I live in zone 5. Used seeds from fruit I had just bought from a supermarket.) I planted the seeds in the ground, covered them with dirt--the small seeds not too deep, the peach pits deeper. In the spring they sprouted. Just make sure you mark the spot where you plant your seeds; this way, you wont pull them out as weeds--something I often do. I'm sure you are doing this for fun, so enjoy and learn. Hey, After 5 summers, I just got my first flowers from oriental lilies that I started from seed...Most of them look just like their parents...2 look different, but I have seen the same type of flowers in catalogs. Hi Del, That is the reason why I posted the exact flower that this seed pod came from, I was wondering if someone out there would identify it as something else. It was extremely fragrant as Apple Blossom is. I have two Apple Blossom plants, one spent this blooming season on the kitchen counter and the other is in another room, so there is absolutely no mix-up between plants. I could post other pictures of the kitchen counter Apple Blossom if you think it would help someone identify it as something else. The only reason I choose Lady Jane, was because it was blooming on the window sill just above it, never thinking it might take, just did that one and a self. Now, I won't be offended if someone of the experts (including you) feel this is something else! Did you look at the mottled coloring on the seeds? Is that normal in come crosses? I planted up 6 sprouted seed today and I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with 15 or 20! Of course, it remains to be seen if I can grow them on............ Donna

I would let the seedlings develop a set of leaves before moving it into its own pot. If you got a lot of seeds try leaving some in your experiment GH Env., and see how much it grows before stopping. I usually just place seeds in a ziploc bag with peat moss but do notice that when its kept too long in the pure moss, the roots seem to have problems. Sugar Apples, container grown, at least three years before any signs of flowering. Good thing is that its possible to flower and fruit a seedling in containers compared to other Annonas.
