Thick petals more fragrant than thin petals?

I read that in one of my rose books. A following fact probably is that thin petalled flowers are more likely to be damaged by rain. So...hybridizers seeking roses with good resistance to bad weather are likely to sacrifice fragrance.

All this comment to explain why Kordes roses, you knew I would get to that, are often criticized for their lack of fragrance. Choosing performance under wet weather conditions over fragrance. Way to go K!
