Thank you, Camp, for your sense of humor. I love what you wrote, "we really don't want to hear the tired old rubbish about talent - haven't we had enough with the bankers spouting the same bollocks?" You are a genius in writing, Camp, I would love to see a book written by you. I read the first page of Harry Potter's - I wasn't impressed ... I think you write better than that gal and funnier too. My kid is asking me now if there is a camp for writing ... I told her Camp is the username, not a writing camp! Gardenweb once flagged "poorbutrichrose" as obscene. My kid suggested me to use "strawberryhat" as username, I thought she said "strawberryhead" so I changed it to "strawberryhill". I should had kept it "strawberryhead" ... it sounds more ferocious and would command more respect =)! When I was a teenager ... I was poor so didn't contribute a dime to United Way from my paycheck. A few years later the press released the salary of United Way CEO: giant amount for that time ... now they tone down. There's corruption inside most charities once you know the local details: Make-a-wish (no room for details here), there's Bible-for-the-World. My sister-in-law worked for them. The President of that org. drove a Lexus, got drunk, and dunk the car into the river. I love what you wrote, Camp, a clear-conscience is better than a winning salary. My sister-in-law left that organization.

Carla, funny you should choose dogwood; that's the thing about living on the east coast I miss most - the springtime bloom of the dogwoods, azaleas, wisterias. Beautiful photograph.

Carol, that is lovely. We have high winds here since yesterday, and I think that all those little buds for the spring flush are being massacred! :-) So your very refined Lady H brings me joy.

Happy birthday, Jerome. It's great to have such an enthusiastic rosarian on the forum who grows and loves many of the same roses I do. If it's any consolation, we're also experiencing very high winds, but I have very few buds for the wind to knock off yet. At least our roses aren't still covered in snow!

Happy Birthday, Jerome! I enjoy reading your posts. I find it fascinating that you live in a monastery. I have just finished reading "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett and wonder if you have read it or ever have time to read for pleasure. Reading is my other passion besides gardening. I wish I could post a picture for you but that is a skill I haven't mastered yet! Buff

Happy Birthday, Jerome! I'm still relatively new to the forum, but I first came to know about you, and Ingrid, and Jeri, and a number of others, during the terrible Southern California fires, when you had to evacuate. I felt as though I knew you all and worried about you.
