Skippy filter ... still algae!?

Though my son installed a skippy filter last year in my small 125 gal. pond, the water looks like 'pea soup'!! Though I have had no problem with string algae (so far!), the other green algae has made the water look awful. In the hot afternoon the top of the green water has a film of floating green 'scum' (so thin I can't scoop or mop it up) but it has pretty much been gone in the cool early mornings only to appear again in the afternoons.

My ? : is the skippy filter failing/why (there is also a sponge pre filter on the submursible pump which have to clean every day as it plugs up too), too much sunlight, do I just admire my 'nice' green pond & hope for cooler weather? Or clean the pond ... again? Fish seem to be OK!

Thanks in advance for any advice!
