Isn't it funny how you can inherit a love for growing things? I was born with it....from digging up that first wild morning glory to spending my allowance on a pack of tomato seeds...even without a role model. I can't imagine what my green thumb would have looked like had I had a role model like your grandma! And you prove my point by posting the most incredible flower photos again and again and again. OMG am I jealous of some people! You are an incredibly lucky guy!

I too asked that question, albeit in a slightly different form in a recent post. I understand it is partly because the photos are removed from photobucket by the owner. There was a thread last year I think about this self same thing! Is there, perhaps, another more technical reason? I am compulsively going throught the 67 pages of posts and I too am frustrated by the, apparently, beautiful pictures that are no longer there! I find the garden design photos very inspiring, so not to be able to see some of them is disappointing. I also find the photos of particular hostas very helpful as the quality is often better than the older Hosta Library photos, and we can often see the hostas in their mature and immature forms. Different conditions make hostas look different, so the comparison of multipe photos in a thread is invaluable. So I implore all of you who add photos to posts, please could you leave the links to photobucket for just a little bit longer? Jakki

You can't. Several months ago (maybe even a year ago), iVillage made some so-called "improvements" - of which this is one of many ridiculous changes. Also notice that pictures all post pretty small now, no matter how big they originate from - it makes reading layouts very difficult! I think it has to do with mobile devices and iPads - in particular, iPads. However, I find trying to type on such devices too time-consuming (tiny key images forcing one to use one finger to type with instead of 10), so I don't do much more than occasionally browse using them. I've also noticed that people who use iPads and similar (although it seems to be mostly iPads) often post duplicate (and triplicate) posts, post pictures that are sideways or upside down, have frequent spelling/grammar errors (they blame it on the auto-correct - which I think they're right about), etc. The bottom line is that we now have massive amounts of wasted space on pages and it's more difficult to see pictures. I find it frustrating that to accommodate iPads and similar, everyone else has to suffer the consequences. It's easy to resize pages with most mobile devises - so why do the rest of us have to suffer? If it's so important to iVillage that it "dumb-down" its sites for such devices, then why not do what just about everyone else in the "world" does - create a "mobile" version of the site? Kat What did you do with be-headed plants? When cutting, one should make sure that there aren't any black/dark spots or marks in the remaining stems. 'Dead' leaves may not root - some succulents root and grow very easily from leaves, some are little more finicky. In general, leaves should be healthy. They will, often, root without help of rooting hormone, and may be growing well just sitting on top of mix. Is it possible for you to add your growing zone besides your name? Rina
