When Can Cabbage go Outside?

Hi,

I am very new to seed starting indoors and really unsure and confused about what to do when.

I have about 15 chinese cabbage plants that I started from seed. They are in seed starting mix in plastic six-pack cells. I planted them about 5-6 weeks ago, and they seem to be thriving. Each plant has about 8 big leaves in addition to the seed leaves and are so bushy I can't really see the black plastic cells or dirt anymore.

I did try to set one set of 6 outside about 10 days ago to start hardening off, but I think it was too cold and some of the leaves kind of curled up and turned whitish/brown, so I eventually cut them off.

What should I do? Try hardening them off again? When should they go into my SFG? Should I put them in bigger pots first?

Oh, also, I started some impatiens and coleus. They are still in the cotyledon stage. Should they be under the grow lights for 18 hr/day like the cabbage and basil?

Thanks for any help!!

Denise
