Why are my leaves curling?
Comments (6)I did notice a few spider mites on a small uncurled leaf and sprayed that with an insecticide. I will spray the rest of the leaves tonight. The light is a single light bulb and is about 2 feet away from the nearest plant. I will try to post pictures soon. Thank You for your help!...See MoreWhy are the leaves on my mother of thousand curled back?
Comments (2)My guess is that it's completely starved for light. The leaves are not just curled back, but look nothing like healthy leaves (pairs are too far apart, stem is curled when it should be straight up, the leaves have no serration). Personally, since these things multiply like weeds, I'd be pretty aggressive: cut it down to the base, then give is WAY more light, and not so much water. My boss has one of these in his office, it's probably 9 years old and has been in the same pot the whole time. He waters it weekly if he remembers. If left untended, it will grow to 6 feet tall. I cut it back once it gets to about 3 feet, and it sprouts more stems from the base within weeks. Key: full sun for nearly 8 hours a day....See Morewhy do my tomato leaves curl up
Comments (2)It could be stress, too much sun, insufficient roots for the amount of sun, overwatering, lack of acclimatization, etc. Some viruses have that as a symptom. The variety might be used to a more temperate climate. I would remove the oldest leaves of the plant if I were you (although that is experimental advice to stimulate new leaf growth, which leaves might not be as prone to curling). Maybe give it some extra potassium/phosphorus, too, to help the roots (without adding extra nitrogen, unless it's already low nitrogen). If your tomato is determinate, you may want to be more careful about removing leaves....See Morewhy are the leaves on my apple tree curling?
Comments (12)Thanks for asking. It doesn't seem any better, but it doesn't seem any worse, either. I gave it a good soak and looked for signs of insects or mold. But I haven't called the county extension office. Treebarb, its two types of apple trees that are twisted around each other. gjcore, thanks for the book recommendation. I've lived in homes with mature fruit trees before, but I've never grown them from saplings before....See Morechele519
