Hey Mike, I have seen this before on my mom's Ponderosa lemon tree that I bought for her years ago. Even though she almost killed it by letting it drown, it is now finally recovering. I had to hack it and now it has TONS of new growth. Your citrus are always so beautifull!! It's kind of funny to me to see that what you can do with your citrus is what I can do with my plumeria!! I have to say though that my replacement Oro Blanco is looking pretty nice for being indoors for the winter and my Keylime is growing uncontrollably. I just hope I can get some good blooms off of it!! I don't get it but hopefully this will be a better year for it. I only have one fruit one it right now and it doesn't seem to be growing any. I found that if I don't hand pollinate it, no fruits. This is my least favorite citrus. My poor meyer doesn't seem to like the HPS light but I hock it up to having to be so close to the light itself. I am going to have to figure something else out for it next year. Andrew

I've had some weep (the blueberry-black currant from the bottled juice) after they set up, esp. after opening and putting in the fridge. Some rings seem to loosen in the canner or maybe when I was lifting them out, but this is the first time I've *ever* had one come off! The liquid on top was very clear and the grape jelly was set, the clear liquid on the sealed jars pretty much totally filled the headspace which is why I'm thinking it was water? Then again this batch was more grapes, fewer apples, and the apples were really tart. I'm going to have to see if the others are weeping - wouldn't there be some in all of them if that was it?

It hasn't happened to me but I received a book a while ago that contained stories and anecdotes about Harry Kalas, the long time and much beloved announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies who passed away early last year. At the end the author added a note to look for an upcoming book 'For Phillies Fans Only' and asked for any funny stories about chance encounters with players or anything amusing having to do with the Phillies ball club. I sent in something funny I heard during a broadcast years ago. The author phoned me at home and said it would probably be in the book!!! Also two years ago I got an email saying that an independent film was being made about nurses in the Vietnam War. It stars Faye Dunaway, Amy Acker, Ben Vereen, Tom Sizemore and others. It takes place at the 24th Evac Hospital and I was actually stationed there. They asked for photo's of what the place looked like and I emailed 6 or 8 of them. I was told that I will get a 'Special Thanks' screen credit at the end of the movie. It has been released in limited areas - not here yet - but I'll be interested to see my name, hopefully, if it ever gets here. Between you & me I don't think it was very well received. Maybe it'll make it to DVD at least.

One of my daughters also has occasional sleep paralysis. She's about the same age as I, when I first experienced it, and of course I knew what was happening when she was making a low keening sound after falling asleep on the couch. All I have to do is touch her to break the cycle. I remember bringing myself out of the paralysis by wiggling my fingers. OT, but closely related, is the opposite phenomenon, REM sleep behavior disorder, where one is asleep, but able to move and act out dreams. Again, something goes wrong with the body's ability to sync the sleep/wake cycle, and RBD is even more frightening. My late aunt had RBD, and would be terrified of her dreams, and even more terrified and confused when she awoke in her kitchen or on her front porch, in the middle of the night. She eventually developed Lewy Body dementia, and I've read that although not everyone who has RBD develops Lewy Body dementia, the majority of LBD sufferers have the sleep disorder. I apologize for going off on a tangent, but with LBD now being cited as the second most common form of dementia (behind Alzheimer's), everyone should be aware of the connection.
