Mendocino rose can you pls tell me about Flagrant
Comments (9)Hi Vettin. Flagrant is a seeding of General MacArthur. It has turned out to be a small climber, probably a good pillar rose. It has a lovely fragrance. After the spring bloom it doesn't bloom heavily. It acts like a lot of HPs. It's not especially disease resistant but isn't overcome by fungus. I'm pleased that you have expressed an interest in it....See MoreCould you please tell me about these roses? Noisette and teas..
Comments (2)'Clementina Carbonieri' is a beautiful rose: healthy, thrifty, with good foliage and sunset-colored flowers. My plants are slow growing but they also live in tough conditions; in time the plant will get big--my parent plant is about 6'x6', at a guess. I hear that the blooms fry in the heat. The flowers are usually smallish and semi-double, but if the plant is well fed and watered and gets a run of mild weather, it can produce large, double blooms, like a fluorescent version of a David Austin rose. The scent is of Tea: fresh, dry and woody. I highly recommend this rose. Melissa...See MorePlease tell me about these roses...
Comments (4)I've heard that SdlM balls in wet weather - the buds and flowers rot when they get wet. That's one reason why I didn't bought it last season. The experience can be very frustrating when you are waiting for the bud to open, and all of the sudden it balls. Because SdlM is a very popular rose and most botanical gardens/park would have this rose, I've decided to visit a nearby botanical garden to see the flowers in bloom rather than have it in my own garden. I think this is a great idea: buy roses that must one and the ones you don't have - go and visit nearby parks instead....See MoreTell me about tree roses!
Comments (6)Thanks Sautsemom - that's exactly the kind of review I think is needed for rose trees. Mine wouldn't have near the growing season, but if they want to get that tall they want to get that tall and I'm not going to fight a rose that much. 'Hot Cocoa' is a Flori, which I'd have thought would make a good rose tree. Good to know it wants to be a monster! Dave, you manage to overwinter rose trees outside in our state?! I'm impressed! I know I won't do that much winterizing, so if I get any my plan is just to take them in the garage once they get good and dormant. Redrose, your 'Moonstone' looks big for a first year plant! From your pics, it looks like Edmunds and JP do alright with rose trees! When do you have yours delivered? I ordered bareroots for after our last frost date (which is mid-April) and in hindsight I think that was too late. Vapor, I'll try posting a thread on the other forum too - my home computer quit on me, so until I get it fixed I'm limited to when I can get on. The part I need to try and fix it is apparently coming on a slow boat from China, so I'm stuck for a couple more weeks. So for sources there's Edmunds, Jackson and Perkins, Regans, and Witherspoon. Anyone know of any others? Sounds like the best cultivars for tree-ing are those that are naturally short or floppy/lax/weeping. I'll leave you with this pic of 'Life of the Party' in tree form, from HelpMeFind https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.329506 I wish the sellers would have pics of the tree forms and not just the flower in their descriptions....See Moremalcolm_manners
