What climbers might look nice next to Carefree Wonder?

I really like apricot colored roses but not sure how they might look next to my hedge of Carefree Wonder roses. I would like a climber for a arbor. I was looking at Royal

Sunset, Crepuscule, Autumn Sunset.. Not sure any of these might grow on a arbor in PA.. Any other suggestions??

Oooooh Jess that sounds like it would be pretty to me. I too am looking to get some apricot climbers. Autumn Sunset and Crepuscule are real pretty. I will have to check out Royal Sunset. Already getting Buff Beauty so I might add another. I was wanting one to add with my Social Climber but afraid it might be tooo much to put on one arbor. Can't wait to see other peoples suggestions. Judy

Did you see the photo of my Mom's Autumn Sunset growing in/on some hibiscus in her back year last spring? She lives in Philly.

It does need treating for blackspot or there will be no leaves by the end of the season. I think it was planted in 2005.

'Clair Matin' is an outstanding rose: beautiful, disease resistant and reliably remontant. For me, south of Boston, it makes a large stiff caned shrub about 5' tall and 5' wide. Your once bloomer sounds exactly like 'City of York' which can get huge. I can't think of another rose with the same description. 'Albertine' is another outstanding rose that meets your requirements very well and is hardy, reliable and beautiful. I see that you are looking for a rose to grow 12' - 15' along the fence (my 'May Queen' has canes only about 6' long, but the one at Elizabeth Park is grown as a climber, as I recall). My 'Albertine' grows on a split rail fence about 4' high and does extend at least 10'. The canes are very flexible and easy to train. Now that I think some more about it, this rose really does meet your requirements very well. Mine does not lose foliage and is reliably hardy on Cape Cod.

Looks real good for a two year old Ingrid. It is and will be very pretty on your wall. Great looking country you live in. I have tried for a few years to grow Reeve d'Or from cuttings I have got from my friend's garden. I have been so close to getting one etablished in my garden. The first one I moved from a spot I changed my mind about and lost it. Then I got a heap to grow and when I repotted them from sand into soil, they died. One I did get to survive I had planted in the right spot on a good strong arch, but it was a real dry Spring and I lost it too. This Winter I am ordering a grafted one ! I did get Lamarque to grow well though after I moved it with my fist ill fated Reeve d'Or. Actually it got moved yet again last winter when I started a Noisette hedge to grow around a new garden area.

My favorite climbing rose [also could be favorite rose] is Crepuscule, a noisette. It blooms all the time, peach sherbert color, easy to train, pliable canes, few thorns. A wonderful rose! A fabulous red climber is Dublin Bay. Love this one! Another favorite I had, painters killed it by spraying it and I plan to replace this spring is the dark pink Parade. I am trying Pink Don Juan this year, have seen it in full bloom and it is gorgeous. I have Lady Ashe/Dixieland Linda. It is a strong,healthy bush, stiff canes, blooms well and hardly any disease. The color leaves me a bit flat......but as I love all roses.....its a good one. I live 2 hours from Chamblees and go there as much as I can. Their roses are so healthy and they grow varieties that are good in any garden. Great place to buy from! They have all the above roses but Parade - Antique Rose Emporium carries that. Oh, and for a pink, Aloha is excellent. It is more of a tall shrub for me, canes dont trail. Blooms all the time. Royal Sunset is a gorgeous apricot. I am no expert, but I would just pick a color you like, plant the rose in a good hole with excellent soil and grow it well. Just dont buy Cl. Queen Elizabeth! Monster rose and never blooms, from what I have heard. Good luck!

Jess---I love VQ and she does repeat bloom all summer---However---my yard is so shady that I can't be a good judge of the size of roses. I do think Clair Matin repeats very well------ I like both of these roses--- Thanks Your Iris gal-------I think the two pictures I posted of VQ are a good example of her lovely blooms--I'm happy you like her. So pretty!! I found a photo of Royal Sunset I found its pretty also.. Like that Autumn Sunset but always thought is was more yellow. I like that photo of yours!!

I think a good apricot would be pretty with Carefree Wonder. I am very partial to Royal Sunset. Pretty disease proof where I grew it, floriferous, and very good fragrance. I haven't grown many roses myself but this one would be my top pick of all the ones I've had.

I don't know where you are in PA, but Westerland has flourished here and seems to be more disease resistant than most. I am just south of Allentown.

Apricot is my favorite color. Crepuscule is one of my favorite climbers, color nonwithstanding. It grows fast, blooms all the time, no disease. Those frothy peach ice cream blooms are magnificent! I like peach/orange with hot pink - like the colors of Honeysweet, a mix of orange, apricot, pink. Lovely! I also adore Royal Sunset, just got my 2nd bush. I have Autumn Sunset and Westerland, but they are new plants, havent bloomed. My Buff Beauty, despite being 3 yrs. old, in full sun with regular watering has not bloomed alot. I am going to hit it with Mills Magic Rose Mix this year and be more timely with fertilizer. Have ordered Polka. A little know peach climber is Peach Silk from Heirloom. I raised mine from a tiny band - it blooms lots and I really like it.

I know you're asking about roses but I had the purple clematis 'Jackmannii' by a pink rose at my old house, that was a really nice combo.

Yes, any blue or purple tone clematis is a great partner for an apricot or salmon rose.
