Red Slider Turtle in my water garden

Yesterday I came home to find a little 2.5 inch Red Slider turtle in my pond. I caught the little guy to have a look, but put him back in. Later I realized that this little guy might eat my tropical fish that I have in my pond, but now he's elusive and I have not been able to catch him.

I'm wondering, should I even worry about him eating my tropical fish (various tetras including rummy nose tetras, neon tetras, rosy barbs, etc.).

Should the turtle go, or leave him? Also, will the turtle also eat my plants? Also, at first I thought someone was playing a trick on me and placed the turtle in my pond, but then I do recall last year seeing a pair of small eyes and a little head stick out of a crevice on the water surface one night. I thought it was perhaps a small garden snake, but now I think it was the turtle. Do they really come from the wild to play in water gardens (with rubber lining)?

Regards
