Help me find sources for these roses , please

Hi ,

I have fallen in love with the pictures of some roses I have seen on GV.I don't even know whether they will be hardy to zone 5 and Iam not an experienced gardener to venture into unknown . But I want these roses bad and would like to try them if somone would be kind enough to let me know how I could get them.The names of the roses are 1.monet(the mauve rose)2superstition(another mauve rose)3 rodeon (striped rose )4Abracadabra(a warriner rose).Thanks for checking the post.

That would be helpmefind.com, a large database where you can search roses and see if there are any vendors.

You might want to first ask about hardiness, then ask about vendors.

There is no vendor listed for Superstition.

Russel Nursery (Wholesale Only) list that as one that they grow... Don't waste your time trying to coax one out of them...I've tried once...Without a nursery license, no go... However, if you have a nursery in your area that Carries Russel plants, see if they have it, or will order it in for you. Cederus are touch and go here...Been experimenting with a few since last fall...So I'm not to familiar with who carries them... That's my two cents worth... Eliot

Thomas Affleck is one that I covet, Boncrow. I have Grande Dame and Dee-Lish nestled in this area ( deeper section that will allow for three rows of roses/plants) because they both have old-fashioned blooms. Mrs. B.R. Cant is such a big girl. The bush or shrub must have some size to deal with being in the back next to her. Honestly, I have a fairly strong aversion to most yellow roses; and what the sun does to most of them doesn't help matters much.

Sorry but nobody is going to be able to reliably name a specific double pink rose cultivar using only a picture of one cut flower, without any pertinent background information. But do try the Garden Web rose identification forum - being sure to note the directions in the FAQ section of that forum about what to post for best possible results. Also which cultivar it is won't really have that much to do with how to correct the yellowing. If the lowest leaves are yellowing entirely and starting to drop off most of the time with plants in general that will be a watering issue - either too much or not enough. Again more background about the situation - and more pictures - are needed.

Vintage Gardens carries MONET under their custom propagation listing. Altho, I just checked their Spring PDF availability list and they show it on there, so you might email them about that one. It will be own-root of course. They also are showing ABRACADABRA on the PDF list too. ROEDEAN is only available at Hortico in Canada, and it's been out of stock for several yrs. I sent some cuttings to Cliff at Ashdown West awhile back, but they didn't root. I hope to send him more this spring, but he's suspending operations so I don't know if he will ever get back to offering roses for sale in the future or not. SUPERSTITION is a florist rose, and nobody offers it anymore that I'm aware of. Carlton's went out of business a couple yrs ago, and they were our main source for the florist roses.

Susan and Diane thanks for responding .Helpmefind,Garden watch dog are two sources for information that I have learnt from GW members.I know that I should be sure of hardiness before trying the roses .But I like these so much that Iam willing to try them .I just hope that vintage bands are as easy to grow as the plants I got from RU (It is the only mail order source I have used so far).
Beth thanks for suggesting vintage.I didn't look at their availability because it was't mentioned at HMF.I ended up ordering monet,abracadabra,great news and charles de gaulle.The lady I spoke with said that she can't confirm monet until march 15th (even though they didn't say that in the PDF availability list) and that they have abracadabra now . I was told that I could save a doller on each rose if I give them two substitutes. Iam going to call them tommorow and name black lady and silver lining as alternatives if they can't send me my original choices .I hope that I will get monet rather than the substitutes.I came here to check the responses to my post and read your post about your finds at HD.Iam sad that I can't grab monet .I hope you will enjoy the roses you bought and post some pictures of them for us to enjoy.Thanks

Dana, I was at the Home Depot yesterday, and they have MONET in packaged bareroot! I don't know if the HD's in your area will get the same roses in that ours did, but you might look for it there if they don't have it at Vintage. Wow, I'm glad to hear you were able to get ABRACADABRA. That's one that's been out of commerce for awhile and many people have been looking for it. CHARLES DE GAULLE is a wonderful rose. You'll be glad you got it. And I have GREAT NEWS, but in 6-7 yrs it still hasn't bloomed. I hope you have better luck with it. I keep hoping... Your alternate choices are good ones too. BLACK LADY is a nice deep red. And SILVER LINING is a must-have! It's a great pink with silver underside. Blooms like crazy! Well, good luck with your order. If I were you, I'd ask for all the roses to ship in March. By then they'll know if the MONET is available for sure, and the others will be a better size.

Others may disagree but Superstition is not such a great rose. Someone rooted me a florist rose and I waited three years that the blooms grow into something interesting but no; it is a very 'flat' rose with no interest - for me at least.
