Comments (5)Doubt that peroxide stimulates seed sprouting. Over the years I have found soaking seeds for several hours to overnight (it depends on the thickness of the seed coating) in a cup of warm water with a tea bag is helpful. Yes, this makes a strong tea solution but I found it to work well. Would encourage you to try this method, also. Another soaking method to try. Add to one cup of warm water: 2 drops of Dawn liquid detergent plus two tablespoons of beer. Be certain that the Dawn detergent is the original type with no additives such as degreaser or anti-bacterial junk. Soak seeds for two hours. As an old time northern nursery person I fall row planted and sprouted all my native seeds in mouse-proof cold frames as most of them need stratification. Some seeds need two full growing seasons before they will sprout. Don't give up until the third spring after you have planted your old seeds. Some are slow waking up.
