May I brag just a little?

My beautiful granddaughter, Melissa, has a gift for dog training a la Cesar Milan. My beautiful Brittany, Ellie, has a willfulness that is deep and wide. When the two get together on semi-annual Christmas trips from SoCal, look what happens. Notice the sort-of slack lead? Also, please notice the roses in the background. I'm sort of bragging on them, too, a little - so as not to be entirely off-topic.

These just arrived via email a few minutes ago. BTW, the poodle, Pepper, is always a very good boy.

Sherry, photos of dogs are as welcome as images of roses, in OUR corner of the world.
And the granddaughter is perfect.

Thanks, you helped me decide on rose placement. I bought a dozen bands last year, mostly teas and am now in the process of preparing the bed and picking out who goes where. I had Duchesse d' Brabant and Mr's BR Cant, and was going back and forth on where to put them. Since DdB is a bit smaller, I gave her a prime spot right off my front porch where I SP Barbra Streisand. But Mrs. BR Cant is getting prime spot in the new bed I'm doing and will be close to the street where everyone will see her. I expect people will wander up the driveway to get a closer look in years to come.

Thanks. Of course, such things are all relative. When it came in on my Picasa linked e-mail the first thing I had to do was go find where they post such things. Ha. But, I think most of us picture takers will take whatever "ohs" and "ahs" they can get. It was fun to get comments from literally around the globe on pics throughout my picasa albums once the featuring got people to looking.

Now you guys are gonna make me cry again! Thank you! The friend crying is a bridesmaids, they have been friends since 1st grade. Her parents and my husband and I went to school together and have been friends for years also. My husband and I just celebrated our 30th anniv. this past Monday. My son is very much single!!! hahaha The memorial was for Danny's Dad. He died 3 years ago from cancer. The first girl down the aisle is Danny's younger sister, and the little boy walking in with the groomsmen is Danny's brother. For wedding favors we gave each wedding guest a yellow live strong wristband and made a donation to the American Cancer Society. Thank you all again. We are truly blessed.

Thanks, all! Anita - yes, it will DEFINITELY help! The only thing that will be a bit of a pain is having our big fridge down cellar (that we have to go outside to get to), as it pees, so I don't want it on any of the hardwood floors! Mike - you're lucky! The nearest good restaurant is a half hour away. Although I do believe we'll be eating out more than usual... :D Susan - Yes!! I'm surprised you could recognize it amidst all the clutter! And we have another one in a box somewhere ... lukki - you said it!! And the best part, had you not told us you were a slight tad older than twenty you could be your grand daughter. She looks great and the dogs well behaved. Of course that ends when the camera is off. LOL

Your granddaughter is lovely. She must have a great deal of patience to train dogs.
Your garden with it's roses, looks gorgeous.
I recognize it's design, from your earlier post.
It looks great for just over a year and a half old!

do you think we gardeners have a more than usual propensity for having pets? I certainly have 2 cats, and a collie dog.
Could it be some sort of nurturing instinct as I do not know a single gardner who does not have at least a goldfish.

That's especially nice that she comes to see you semi-annually. I hope my grandchildren will continue to come see me when they are grown. Shows what a wonderful grandmother you must be.

Holleygarden, you caught me. I thought of this last night in bed. Semi-annual is twice a year, but they only come every two years, so I should have said biennial. It makes saying goodbye harder.

About campanula's question, oh yes, I think so. It's called biophilia, the love of living things, and tends not to limit itself just to plants. We have two cats and a dog, and I want to get a pair of geese. (Sherry, I foresee your post going off as hostage to a new topic: perhaps it's time for me to start a new thread?)

Sherry, you have a lovely granddaughter, what a glorious head of hair. Every two years is a long time between visits. And those dogs are awesome.
Your garden is so neat, can't believe all the blooming in the dead of winter. Mine is deader than a door nail.
