just cause you dont see more.. doesnt mean its not invasive ... i once pulled out an 8 foot plant.. by hand.. very shallow rooted .. and not many of them ... but i was doing it in sand ... its just a carp plant.. compared to the vine versions.. get rid of it ... ken

This is probably 'Gro-Low' growing happily in Englishtown NJ. It makes a neat, clean shrub border. Fragrant sumac grows in the most inhospitable sites and seems best in full sun. AFAIK, the only sumac propagated from stem cuttings. This plant is such a welcome change from the predictable barberry and winged euonymus which should be phased out.

With the red tints to the stem, you may be able to narrow the possibilities of which cultivar. For instance, it is unlikely to be Limelight. Hydrangea paniculata are one of my favorite plants for their unfussy care and long bloom season (3-4 months). Some cultivars can get quite large, so plan for that in figuring out where to resite them. They start blooming white, and they age to pink.
