Great name, beautiful pictures, but is it any different and improved over Scentimental? No awards, so did it have problems in the AARS trials?

Can anyone comment on the repeat, bloom life, disease resistance, etc.?

Hey Steve, its good to see a post from you. I don't know this rose, but it sure looks pretty. If it is like Scentimental, but doesn't blow as quickly, it will be a winner.

Spaded my 3 year old Scentimental last winter. As several posters above noted, it just sat there doing very little--never had a big flush, the few blooms it produced shattered very quickly, and while it wasn't a disease-magnet, it did periodically have a few BS problems. I finally just gave up--put in a bare-root Well Being that is still small but already has 8 gorgeous buds/blooms on it. That's more than Scentimental managed to produce at one time even after 3 years in the ground. Actually, I gave Scentimental away--to the neighbor's lawnperson. Will Rock 'n' Roll grow OK in my climate?

I can't speak for New Orleans, but it gets plenty warm up here being in the interior and away from coastal moderating influences. I had Rock 'n' Roll in a pot this summer, and once it got going, it did okay. My plant was very slow to start, and I had almost given up on it, but all of a sudden it started to grow. In our heat, the flowers were small to medium in size, but they were nice. I later saw it when I went to Tacoma, WA in the fall. It was much larger and quite fragrant with decent, showable form. So, I would conclude that it would be better in spring and fall. Perhaps if it survives our roller coaster winter and spring temps, it will look better next year. It really wouldn't hurt to try it just for the heck of it. It actually might prefer coastal air influences. That is what I have seen in the posted pictures of Neptune.

HI I bought this Rose, but I have not been able to plant it out side. when i tried putting it in full sun, it almost died! Its been living in the house with me all winter, here in Colorado, in my window. The Colorado sun is very intense, I was just wondering how much sun yours likes to have?

Me too.....The instant I saw this rose photo I thought of Rosebud.

I do not have an updated book on the roses and its parents.

Can't help with the rose either Steve. Had to say hi. Felt like I was in the Twilight Zone when I saw the names here... Rosebud, Jody, Kathy and Cindi!! What year is it? Can't quit smiling after seeing this.

Rock n Roll looks tempting. I'm getting Hurdy Gurdy which you might want to check out. It's supposed to be healthy.

I look. I drool. I say NNNOOOOOO, not yet. I have to keep my garden just a certain size so I can enjoy it. I'll let someone else try it out. If it doesn't blow quick, I might give it a spot in a year or so. By the way, HI old timers!!!

For those of you wondering where to get R and R, it's on the cover of the Edmunds catalogue which I just got yesterday. I got my Scentimental partly on Rosebud's enabling and have loved it except for each bloom only lasts an hour or so. But it blooms a lot which has saved it from the shovel. I would trade it for R and R if it had the same scent and growth habit. Another comment--beware for the "new" Edmunds. Of the 4 knockouts I got last year from them 3 arrived near death, and although they replaced them, I only got 3 to grow. YMMV.

I was thinking Rockin Robin, which is a striped rose something like Hurdy Gurdy. The Rock n Roll at S&W looks completely different than Rock n Roll AKA Stretch Johnson. Stretch is orange.

I just bought a potted Rock and Roll from the Witherspoon Rose store that just opened in Charlotte. The owner seemed enthusiastic about it, and the plant I bought was very healthy with big canes, and seemed more robust than most of the other potted roses they had. I hope this has more scent than Scentimental of which I could only get an occasional good smell.

Welcome back master. The fiery color positively leaps off the screen doesn't it? Alas the fragrance is only rated as mild. Still a most cheerful and vibrant rose. I think you ought to at least give one, or perhaps two, a chance. Yes you must. You will kick yourself if you don't.

Oops shows how much I know. You are writing about the new Grandiflora aren't you? If the black spot resistance is rated better then SCENTIMENTAL then I say go for it. Otherwise stick with the classic. There are very few striped roses that can outbloom your favorite companion to those white Casablanca lilies.

Can it be true... Have I finally located Cindi and Rosebud.
I lost Cindi after the Hurricane's Katrina and Rita.
I have moved from New Orleans, and I want to talk to Cindi.
Steve, how are you and Wendy?.. It's been a long time since
