Odd Growths 4 Year Old Orchid

newbie389

My ~4 year-old mini-orchid has begun to produce roots much further above where previous roots have grown. I know these are not spikes due to their appearance (which I can compare to a current spike). Are these normal roots? Is this a keiki? I've read that a keiki might form when a mother plant is about to die. Either way, what should I do? If they are normal roots do I need to repot the orchid? Thanks!
