ghost orchid "super ghost" sept.16

Yesterday I went out to the corkscrew sanctuary in Naples, FL for the afternoon which is about an hour north east of me. It was the first time I've ever seen a ghost orchid in bloom. This one is called super ghost and has made home on a 400-500 yr old bald cypress tree. The orchid is few decades old itself. There are two buds on it as well that will bloom one after another. Go check it out if you are in the area!

Good to see that it is surviving in the wild. Pity it is so difficult to cultivate because then there would be backup to the wild populations and less likelihood that it would be collected from the wild.
