Drippy's right, plunk those babies back in, add some potting soil where needed, water them. How about the eye part of a hook and eye latch screwed into your wall, secure your plant stand with a piece of plastic cord or clothes line. I've got a couple of things held into place that were loosened here with those eye screws.... We had winds too. Heck with the plants house, I thought my own was going to blow away. The 100' tree laying on it may have been holding in down :) No front porch windows left and that was only wind, not the tree. I have a blown-loose sambucus tied to the front of my house with one of those eye screws, another holding a now tippy trellis steady until we can get to a more permanent fix. Those plants are tougher than you think :) If pieces of any of them broke by being dumped on their heads, it may be a good idea to remove anything jagged with sharp pruners so you don't run the risk of secondary damage by insects or disease. Good clean cuts heal faster.

hmmm. No aphids? How about herbicides sprayed recently? Where did you get the mulch? Have you had your soil tested recently? If you can eliminate other causes and you're pretty darn sure it's lacking ca, you can possible get some water soluble ca online or from a hydro shop. Or 2 other ways to get Ca into the soil quickly--- One way is to take a large yogurt container, put an inch or 2 of DOLOMITE lime in it with a cup or 2 of white vinegar, give a good stir, let sit overnight uncovered, and then use the liquid(not the sediment that sinks to the bottom) at a rate of 4 TB/gal of water. Or... mix a pound of Ca(OH)2 (SLAKED lime) in five gallons of water, then let it sit over night and siphon off the supernatant w/o disturbing the dregs and use the supernatant to water with at a rate of 1 qt/sq ft or 8 oz/6' pot. Yes, trees can also turn a hot yard into a cool, shady, oasis. But, in my opinion, that decision should be made by a homeowner about his/her own property, not by an inconsiderate neighbor. I'm not sure what makes anyone think it's okay to take away someone's sunlight like that. Not everyone likes shade. Not everyone wants their yard turned into a shady space and not everyone wants a tree shading their house and turning it into a dark cave. It's really inconsiderate, imo, to plant a big tree that shades your neighbor's yard and/or home. Additionally, if a tree is shading a neighbor's roof, that can interfere with their solar panels. Big trees certainly are beautiful, but they have their place and, imo, that place is not in small yards, especially when they shade a significant portion of a neighbor's yard or shade a neighbor's home. Do you think my ability to have/grow my little fruit trees and my vegetables should depend on whether a neighbor decides they want to plant a huge tree that will shade my yard? It's one thing to move into a house that already has a shady yard and little natural light inside the home. When you do that, you've made a choice that shade is fine by you. It's quite another thing to buy a home and then have your sunlight (and your ability to grow what you want on your own property) slowly taken away by an inconsiderate neighbor who plants a huge tree. I don't like it when tree people try to impose their shade on everyone else.

I have mine in pots and leave them together as much as possible. With these Aechmea faciata the mother plant dies after flowering anyway, so stress on it is a non-factor. You could, however, argue about the jumbled mess. Grown in the ground would be less messy. These are two pots. tj
