Name That Plant!

Is this a species of Hosta? I planted a pack of traded seed that said "big blue hosta" and got a wonderful variety of plants, mostly blue, but ended up with four that are seriously miniscule and I'm wondering if these might be a species Hosta. The one in these pictures has four eyes, has never bloomed and is a three year old plant. It's roughly half the size of my two smallest named Hostas, Baby Bunting and Tiny Tears. Does anybody recognize it?

Ken and others Yes, I have been by Gus's place in Livonia with my mother years ago but did not go in for a visit. Did not meet Gus in any hosta meetings or at my mother's garden as I don't remember him being active in the small circle of local hosta people at the time. Just a note for those interested in saving the date, I have been invited by the Metro Detroit Hosta Society to speak next Feb 22, 2016 in Birmingham MI. The meeting is at 7 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, 1589 W. Maple Rd. Birmingham MI Title will be "Pauline Banyai: The Hosta Lady - Revisited." Love your Hanky Panky progression pics Steve. I too enjoy it’s color changes throughout the season. If only I could remember where I moved it to last year. Steve, I must admit, I think you are correct. I had wondered why the "L" but did not connect it to lilies. I am sure George was extremely precise. So, my hosta is probably Decorata and needs to show me how it really looks once it has some decent light.Spring cannot come too soon. I have so many crowded hostas to relocate. The ones from George were put onto a small hill as a holding area (15 years ago) but are still there. I just took a couple pics, shows how crowded everything is. In 3 years it's no longer a seedling....you may have something very special....it's so tiny and slightly stripey...

You don't get species hosta from hybrid seed; your seedling is a hybrid, not a named cultivar or specie that anyone could ID for you.

If it has never bloomed it's not a mature plant. It could be a mini or it could be stunted. I'd move it and see how it performs in a different spot.

Good morning and thanks for all the replies! I guess I should have prefaced all this with the thought that these might be mislabeled seeds. Some of the seedlings from that pack have bloomed, almost all are multiple eyed now, and none are bigger than Blue Cadet. And while there is a great variety among the many seedlings that grew from that pack, these four are remarkably similar to each other in their size, substance, leaf shape and color. That's why I thought they might be a species.

The plant pictured is the one that has been moved the least, it has four eyes. The others have been moved at least once a year, one in particular has moved around quite a bit and even spent the past winter in my fridge! The others have two eyes each.

Unfortunately, the slight striping is due, I suspect, to the fact that it's past due for a shot of fertilizer. I'll want to spruce my babies up before I post them over at the Hosta forum, lol!

And come up with a catchier title. ;)
