Name That Plant!

unknown white flower something like a snapdragon

Flower is cream colored, maybe something like a snapdragon, the flowers are all located

at the ends of the stems, most plants have 3 branched flower stalks, stems are usually

purplish but a few are green, leaves are dull olive color in groups of 3.

It is not swamp or LA iris which has foliage present all year long from my experience and grows from rhizomes. This is a bulbous iris. I agree with Saltcedar. Scroll down half way. This is copied from that site: Iris xiphium, which is the Spanish iris this group is named for, is common in southwest France, Corsica, Southern Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Gibraltar and Spain. It has handsome blue and yellow flowers and has been used as one of the parents in the many hybrids known as Dutch Iris. There are four varieties. This iris is quite popular in flower arrangements. Perhaps Silene cucubalus, bladder campion, an alien. If not perhaps the similar appearing Lychnis alba as it also has five white petals and an inflated calyx sac. Lychnis is sticky, Silene smooth.

The flowers of both do look a lot like mine, but the foliage on the Ilse Krohn Superior doesn't look like a match. The foliage on the IKS looks darker and much more matte. Unfortunately I cannot tell about the foliage on the White Cap from the photos at helpmefind. I don't know how big the flowers are either.

Thanks carrieb and jeanne, sorry carol23, don't know why you received that error. Thanks to your leads I id'd it as Baptisia alba (L.) Vent. var. macrophylla, which is the variety present here in Michigan. The species Baptisia alba itself was kind of misleading because of it's growth habit, it's flower stalks droop downward and it's more bushy, whereas the variety macrophylla has very upright flower stalks and is more leggy (not as many leaves).
