Pond help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi!

I'm new to this forum but am so thrilled that I found it!

We bought our home last summer which came with a lovely small goldfish pond, about 2-3 years old. We are in Zone 5b/6a and were told by the previous owner to leave the fish in with the waterfall running. When fall came we did as we were told and then one very cold November evening looked out to see that the waterfall had stopped running. After some calling around I went out and rescued as many fish as I could catch (someone should have been taking photos!) and overwintered them in a tank in the garage.

When the pond finally thawed two weeks ago I cleaned out the frog casualties and saw that I had survivors. A 4" goldfish and at least 8 babies. The pond has considerable green algae on the rock surfaces though the water is quite clear. I need to pull the pump out and see if I can start it again but how can I safely get rid of the algae without harming the remaining fish and frogs? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!
