I think they're toad eggs . Leopard frogs like small streams , not ponds. At least you wont have to worry about bugs in your yard with 1000's of toads . I wish I had toads here , havent seen one in 15 years.

Missa7, Frog spawn is in clumps as shown in your photograph.
Toad spawn is laid in long strings.

I thought they were frog eggs because they're in a clump ... not in strings like the toads do.

I get the long strings alot. That why I thought these were frog eggs as they're different.

I even touched them & they stayed clumped ... weren't in strings.

The tadpoles swimming around are not from that clump of eggs ... they are from the strings of eggs from all the many many toads I had earlier.

they are toad eggs, she just wrapped them. newbird and horton are correct. ;)

I did not wrap them ... I found them like that.

I just tried to pick them up & they stayed in an elongated (due to being around the plant, I assume) clump ... they did not break up into strings.

I am not saying they are or are not frog or tadpole eggs but they are one or the other & the mass is different than any of the toad masses I have ever gotten. The toads leave long strings all over my pond & plants.

But whatever.

Toad eggs are in spiral strings; I think you have frogs if they aren't in strings. Put your picture on the amphibian forum and see if they have any idea on the kind of frog.

Or, put them on some toast points. Toad eggs are crunchy, while frog eggs are not.

I have observed many frogs in my life, and it is not nonsense. They are frenzied as they lay eggs and also in amplexus. Does anyone actually believe that I would think a Human being would take the time to 'wrap' frog/toad eggs around something? That's ridiculous. Mother toad did it. period. :)

Well... seeing that I have no experience with animal eggs whatsoever, I cant help you out I'm afraid. Which, may turn out to be a good thing since tensions are really heating up lol. Again, who know ponds couldnt be relaxing? (I learned that minutes after I started the first dig of the shovel!)

I still think they may be frog eggs cuz like I said they are in a clump, they didn't separate into strings when I tried to pick them up & they weren't wrapped all the way around the plant just in a "c" shape. We have been removing toad eggs this year as there were so many toads & lots of toadpoles.

I guess we'll know when these hatch as I'm leaving them be ... to see if they are toad or frog.

For some reason when I look real close- I see frog eggs. :)

Well, they were definitely frog eggs.

I moved some to the bath tub with lilies & just in time, too. The fish found them shortly after.

The ones in the tub are bigger than tadpoles & are a beige, tan color. They seem to like duckweed, LOL. I'm thinking leopard frog.

Haven't got a pic yet ... batteries are low on camera.

They're fighters, too. The tub drained twice (completely & don't know for how long but the minnows in there died) & yet they're still alive & kicking. The tub has been fixed & won't drain again.
