Its been a year

15 years ago

Little CJ was born a year ago today, 4 months prematurely and weighing only 1 lb. 10 oz. Now he is crawling all over , pulls himself up on everything is trying out all sorts of sounds. No restrictions on anything. Tomorrow is Leones birthday and she says that having a great grandson well and happy is the best possible birthday present.

The kid is fortunate to have arrived at this time instead of several years ago, what they do with preemies now is amazing.

The twin granddaughters, his mother and his aunt spent the day with us last week and he was all over the house on his hands and knees, babbling all the time. He has the biggest grin and an infectious laugh.

Can you tell I'm pleased about this child?

Why yes, yes I can tell you are well pleased. I'm totally delighted you're well pleased. It's so grand he's making everyone happy. I really wish them all well, keep us posted on the babbling baby CJ. Squish his cute lil' ol' thighs and give him a big kiss/hug from auntie Robin.

I agree with Pidge that 27 years is long enough - I'd rather not wait 99. That being said, it looks like the Phils' pitching staff is gonna let us down yet again. (10 - 5 final today - phooey!) If it can't be the Phils, then sure, why not. Let it be the Cubs. (But I'll wait for the outcome of tomorrow's game before I start the wholehearted rooting for Chicago. Philly's city motto for all its teams is "Wait until next year," but these guys are holding on longer than most.)

lol, Mimidi! I'm just so heartbroken over that stupid job (ha)! Really, it comes at a good time...I'll just have to buy a few less books (not!) My job was just extra money to start a house downpayment fund. It's started and will now just grow a bit slower or else our kids will finally have to learn to be more self-sufficient (at their ages, it's about time). Mamma's ready for this retirement! Excessive sweating & it's been 3 years since my hysterectomy

imwillow You have just described me to a "T". I have been to so many Dr's with regards to it. The condition is called "hyperhydrosis". The day after my hysterectomy I started to sweat till I was soaked and have been that way ever since. There is no quality of life whatsoever with this condition. I take Estrogel (this is an Estrogen gel - 2 squirts each day from a pre-measured pump (rubbed into forearms or upper thighs) and I also take one prometrium each evening. This does absolutely nothing to ease the sweating. Surgeons will suggest having certain sweat glands removed - however it is not advised as the sweating will just move onto other sweat glands. Have you had your thyroid checked? The thyroid is the thermostat of your body - I do not have thyroid trouble. I am scheduled to see an internist on July 8/08 - hoping he can help me. My nephew's friend is a doctor in Oklahoma and he was saying that if a person is overweight (which I am), the fat blocks the heat from exiting the body - therefore sweat profusely. It's a terrible condition, and everything you described is me, right down to the total hysterectomy 3 yrs ago. I am 49 yrs. old. If I find anything out at my appt. on the 8th of July, I will post to let you know. Sue

It's amazing what is now done. I volunteered for a while as hugger in a neo-natal unit, touching and caressing those tiny little ones. They seem to do better when they have a lot of physical contact. I am glad that CJ is doing so well and a "Happy Birthday" for him.

That's just wonderful!!

Just and add-on about these premies. One of our local hospitals has had a neo-natal ICU for years. The nurses always wonder what happen to the little ones when they leave their care. So, once a year on Valentines Day, the hospital throws a party for those children, some of which are now teenagers. The parents get together and compare notes and progress. For those that are still struggling, it provides additional support. It gives them hope!

The nurses that helped save the lives of these children are as proud of them as the parents are.

That is such a blessed miracle. I can't imagine how proud you are. Those NICUs are surely miracle centers of life! Hugs to CJ if he can sit still long enough to get them!

Agnes, when nephew and wife bring 3 year-old Xiola back to the NICU, her nurses and doctors start bawling. Especially the doctor that recommended pulling the plug.

He is fortunate not only to be doing so well but in having yourself and Leone as great-grandparents. I'm sure g'gramps has many things to teach this young man as he grows. Blessings to you all on these b'day celebrations.

Been away for a couple of days & am now just catching up. Great news about CJ & I agree with you. If I had to get sick (or have a loved one with a health problem) I'd much rather it be now than at any other time in history.
