any feedback about orchids.com???

Has anyone here ever purchased orchids from Orchids.com? Was it a good experience or a bad one? Were plants healthy?

They have an interesting miniature Sharry Baby (Onc. Twinkle 'Sharry Baby') that I would like to buy but I am hesitant without knowing anything about them.

If you search the archives for Norman's, you should get quite a bit of info. Opinions are mixed.

Two weeks ago, I e-mailed them, asking for a show schedule because there doesn't appear to be one on their site. They haven't responded. I was hoping that I could pre-order several orchids and ask a Forum member in that city to pick them up and mail them to me... IF it was the plant I ordered, IF it was the size ordered, and IF it looked healthy.

That's the only way I'd get plants from them, short of visiting in person and inspecting roots before buying. Too bad because some of the Phals make me melt and because some people have had no problems with them.

ive had no problems at all so far. ive gotten two plants from them both with extensive root systems!! my pot is actually hard because its full of roots

It's a gorgeous thing! I wanted it immediately after seeing an absolutely huge one in the study plot at the Huntington back in the 1990s. Kind of between a vase and fan shape. Loaded with flowers, simply a stunning sight to behold. Beautiful, very healthy foliage. Does well in Southern California heat. I've only seen it growing in partial shade, so I don't know how well it would do in full sun (my albas seem to like partial shade). My PBP has been almost completely swallowed up by some very aggressive trees over the years--total shade she doesn't like so much, so I am going to move her to where she can get at least some sun! Not often in stock in the specialty rose mail order nurseries (I think 2012/2013 was the final season Pickering carried it). However, a wonderful nursery in Oragon known more for other plants (such as clematis), Joy Creek, often has Pompon Blanc Parfait in stock. I just checked and their online catalog showed 18 in stock as of this morning. Link is below. I haven't bought any roses from Joy Creek before, but I have purchased a variety of other plants. Plants arrived in excellent condition and were shipped quickly/packed well. Customer service was superb. Any recent feedback on Thermador Freedom Induction?

I love this thread. I have been searching high and low for information on Thermador since the few I found on Facebook were primarily negative. I want to buy the Thermador Freedom 36 inch cooktop and reading at all the reviews is very positive, well except for the connectivity with the hood and long wait times. Also, i am assuming here that cooktop can be used without the hood as well? The last comment on this was a year ago. Any further comments/reviews/experiences would be highly appreciated. I am in NJ and everywhere I call I am told there will be a 5-7 month wait time (Designer Appliances, Reno's etc). Anyone know of any appliance stores where this would be in stock? Thanks again. Glad I found this thread.

Three paver mfgs for patio resurface--any feedback?

That is good to know about your pavers-- lot of our lanai stays in shade from about 11 am on but still prefer the white base... Regarding the pool safety fence--just had conversation with guy who installed fence for friend of our daughter Their fence goes all around their smaller pool cause they have lot of patio space on around the pool--too hard to close part of that off... Our pool is larger than theirs and more rectangular--we can do two sides easier but might cost more cause more panels and the gate was expensive--like $400-- but for our situation I think we will need one-- I am not sure I can physically pull those two sections together to try to get fence back up---there is lot of tension in that kind of fence... But he also said that putting it in after pavers were down was not problem and that the pavers the posts were in wouldn't need to be cemented He could just use a longer aluminum sleeve and drill a little deeper than usual... He also said that black mesh/poles were the way to go that the eye will travel through black mesh much easier to see what is on the other side than white mesh...which kind of surprised me... but it is really pretty easy to see out through a pool cage's screening which is black...

I've bought a lot of plants from them since '04, and including some this spring. Their selection is terrific, and plants are as stated, good size and healthy.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

I ordered a few from them in March, one came with a spike. When the flower opened, it was not the one I have ordered. I heard many bad things about their customer service, so I did not even try to fix it in fear that would cause me more grieve (I also noticed that plant I have ordered was taken off their online listing, so even if I had tried, they would not have anything for me). The one mislabled was selling at the price as the one I was ordering, so I just stick with it. The rest of the plants have not bloomed yet, I hope they are what they were labled.

Maybe I should order through you! At a show, they told me a Phal. lindenii was easy for a brand new beginner. Three weeks later or so, when it was struggling, I unpotted it, and it had almost no roots. No response from Norman's on what to do. (Y'all helped.) The plant died. I wasn't happy w/ Norman's.

I've only ordered from them once and it was a bad expieience all around. The plants were in bad ci=ondition, one was completely wrong, and the customer service is horrible. They could care lees ifthe customer is satisfied, once the get thier money they're done with you as far as they are concerned. If you do order from them make sure you use a credit card that is good about handling disputes. Maybe when they realize people will stop payment if they get bad service then they will clean up thier act.
